Call for Papers

We are surrounded by Complex systems (e.g., UAVs, Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, Smart vehicles, Blockchains, Industry 4.0, etc.) with complex networks interconnecting them together. In addition to that, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made large advancements in the past few years and is already changing our lives. In the near future, Artificial Intelligence (AI) in cyber-physical systems (CPS) will monitor, support or control critical infrastructures (e.g., nuclear sites), health and biomedical systems, robotics systems, intelligent and unmanned vehicles, intelligent edge devices, decision-making processes, among many other. In such systems, deterministic behaviors and decisions are vital for guaranteeing security, safety, and privacy, while AI-based decisions are known to be indeterministic. Thus, the increased number of AI-based complex systems has triggered discussions on the potential harms and the need to make AI-based complex systems more secure, safe, and transparent.
SAFELIFE aims at discussing current and future challenges regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in complex systems in terms of security, safety, and privacy. SAFELIFE looks for original research (or practical experience) papers exploring new scientific ideas or contributing to established research directions.

Topics of Interest

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Safety, Security, and Privacy risk analysis in complex systems (e.g., UAVs, Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, Autonomous vehicles, Blockchains, Industry 4.0) with complex networks
  • Security, safety, privacy, dependebility, and resilience guarantees in Complex AI-based Systems
  • Safety, security, privacy, dependability, and resilience assessment of AI-based Solutions in Critical Systems
  • Embedding Security, Safety and Privacy in Development Life Cycle of Complex Systems and Software
